Judgement

Here's a personal post - straight from my thoughts.

I am not a very religious person. That being said, I think spirituality is important. I was raised Methodist, and went to Sunday School as a kiddo. After the Sunday School years, I really didn't attend church regularly again, until my mom decided that I must be confirmed. So, when I was 12 or 13, back to church I went. Sundays for church and Wednesdays for Confirmation class.

Where I sit now with religion is kind of undecided. I hope there is a God, I pray sometimes. I attend church once in a while. Do I have undying faith? No, I don't. I hope to one day become more spiritual, but for now, I'm just slowly making my journey that way.

What I do believe though, is being a good person. I try very hard never to judge. I follow the Golden Rule - you know, do on to others.... I listen, I help, I will go without for others (sometimes), I keep a very open mind to things (most things anyway). I believe that being a good person is the single most important thing in life. I also believe in Karma.

A sad trend I have noticed though, and this is a big part on why I question my faith, is that many if not all of the most closed minded, selfish, JUDGEMENTAL and ignorant people I've met in my life have been serious Christians. Please don't misunderstand, because I know that some of the most wonderful people who have set foot on this earth were also Christians. I don't know alot about the Bible and all that, but I do know that Jesus didn't judge. (I am not judging here, just speculating);).

The reason I bring this up, is because I seem to have had several encounters as of late. Yesterday, a co-worker approached me regarding a vendor who had just provided a service for our company. This particular vendor is incredibly nice, charismatic and professional. He also happens to be Gay. The co-worker approached me shortly after the vendor left, and expressed his contempt at the vendor's "CHOICE" (not a choice d'dammit). He seemed appalled when I replied that I saw nothing wrong with it. This co-worker also doesn't hesitate to speak poorly about another, very nice, albeit annoying co-worker. He is also incredibly religious. I believe he no longer likes me (I could be wrong), and that's all I'm going to say about that.

First of all, I believe firmly in Gay rights. Who the heck am I to judge anyone else? I was not put on this earth to determine what is right and what is wrong. If there is a GOD - and I sure hope there is - I think I'll leaving the judging to him. I realize this co-worker of mine has his opinions,as I have mine. I respect that -I just don't appreciate him bringing those opinions to a forefront - at work of all places. I found it offensive, actually.

Anyway, I hope I didn't offend anyone - I just feel the need to vent on this one.

On to more horse related posts.....

I don't blame you. I think everyone is entitled to their opinions, but your co-worker's comment and assumption that you felt like he did about the vendor's orientation was really unfair and unprofessional.
I agree, leave the judging to God. I think everyone deserves to be happy and live their life their way!
