The Best Day

June 21st, 2008 marked the best day of my life.....
Not only did I marry my sweet, but I spent the day in a fancified dress surrounded by family, friends and, of course, horses.
These two are a pair of 5-year old Hackney horses. I spent the majority of this 1 hour ride talking to the driver about his horses. The horses were remarkably well behaved. No spooking. They did trot at a good clip and left the heavier draft horses hauling the bridle err...bridal party in their dust.

Through the town we drove (notice the other horses heading the opposite direction)? Mackinac Island is a NO CARS ALLOWED Island. Horses are the dominate form of transportation. That, and bikes.

Driving through town, we were the center of attention. Tourists and locals stopped to wave and cheer as we drove past. Some even stopped to snap a few pictures. I felt famous.

Just through town - we are headed up a bluff ~ stunning views of Lake Michigan and the Mackinac Bridge.

After the carriage ride. This is it - picture time - picture time - wait!
"Can I pet the horses"?

Even in a wedding dress!

The horses weren't quite sure.

Is it a person or a monster? SNORT SNORT - the driver was beginning to look nervous.

I think I'll take my chances with the heavier, older, and calmer big boys. They were dog tired after trying to keep up with the Hackneys.

What else to top off a perfect day then cake, cocktails and dancing under the stars?
